What is the IBAN code?

The International Bank Account Code (IBAN) is a code used to identify an account at national or international level.

It is comprised of 4 characters that are placed at the beginning of the bank account: country code (2 characters) + sort code (2 digits). In Spain, the current account would thus have 24 characters instead of 20, being as follows:

Iban_ccc

BIC or SWIFT Code

The BIC (Bank Identifier Code) or SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) code are necessary in order to perform an international transfer to identify a specific bank. The code contains between 8 and 11 characters.
