When is the investment fund redemption fee charged?

The redemption fee is applied when a customer sells off their investment; in other words, when they redeem their investment fund.

If the customer makes a transfer between investment funds, it should be taken into account that this fee is also charged because a transfer essentially involves redeeming a fund and subscribing another. The advantage transfers offer is that they defer payment of Capital Gains Tax.

Some investment funds like, for instance Guaranteed Investment Funds, offer liquidity windows during which the holders can make a redemption without the redemption fee being applied. Said windows' specific dates are set out in the relevant prospectus of each investment fund.
