Insurance covers damages produced by hail, frost, fire, torrential rain, persistent rain, drought, hurricane wind and other climatic perils that affect both crop production and insured facilities.

On livestock farms

The insurance covers death or necessary sacrifices due to accident, illness, attack by other animals, etc. of the insured livestock. This includes the removal and disposal of corpses.

Agricultural Sectors

  • Olive farm insurance. Covers damages in production and cultivation caused by the risks of hail, exceptional risks and other climatic perils out of the farmer's control (drought, frost or bad flowering). Coverage may vary depending on the contracted policy.
  • Arable crop insurance. Covers crop production damages caused by hail, fire, exceptional risks, non-emergence and other climatic perils out of the farmer's control (drought or frost). Coverage may vary depending on the contracted policy.
  • Vineyard insurance. Covers damages in production and cultivation caused by hail, frost, exceptional risks and other climatic perils not controllable by the farmer. Coverage may vary depending on the contracted policy.
  • Insurance of covered vegetables. Covers damages to production and facilities caused by hail, frost, wind, virus, exceptional risks and other climatic perils not controllable by the farmer. Coverage may vary depending on the contracted policy.
  • Livestock insurance. Covers death or necessary sacrifice caused by accident, illness, animal attacks, etc. This also includes the subsequent removal and disposal of corpses.

Yes, there are. Agricultural insurance has funding grants from:

  • ENESA (State Agricultural insurance Entity)
  • The regional authorities
  • The Ministry of Agriculture applies a direct grant which is discounted from the insurance premium at the time it is taken out.
  • Regional authorities may offer additional grants.
