What is a backup account and how is it enabled?

In order to prevent your direct debit bills from being returned, Unicaja offers you the chance of associating one of your accounts as a backup account of the main account (the one which has active direct debits).


For instance, if you receive an electricity bill for an amount that is higher than the balance you have in your main account at that time, we can settle the payment from the backup account you have set up (provided you have a sufficient balance in this other account).


This service is free of charge and allows you to forget about the arrival of substantial unforeseen bills.


How can I enable, change or delete the backup account service on my Digital Banking service?

  • Click "Bills" on the main menu.
  • Once there, select "View backup accounts" in "Direct Debits".
  • Then follow the steps set out to enable, change and delete the service.
